At the heart of our mission is a deep love for some of the communities that raised us-Kingsley Commons in Falls Church or even Chirilagua in Alexandria, VA. What started as small local events has grown into a powerful movement of compassion and community-led change.
From a Few Turkeys to 600+ Holiday Meal Packages
Today, the tradition lives on-but bigger, more organized, and more meaningful than ever. In 2024, we proudly delivered over 600 complete Thanksgiving meal packages, including turkeys, sides, and dessert, to families across Falls Church, Alexandria, and surrounding areas.
2025 we launched our First Annual Backpack Drive-and it was a huge success.
Thanks to the strong foundation already built through our Turkey Drive community, we were able to rally together and collect over 300 backpacks filled with essential school supplies for local students across the greater Northern Virginia area.
From crayons to calculators, folders to fresh notebooks-every backpack handed out represented more than just supplies. It was a message to our youth: You matter. Your education matters. And your community has your back.
How It All Started - A Family, A Few Turkeys, and a Whole Lot of Heart
In the fall of 2019, what would become a growing tradition of community giving started with one simple act of love.
One young man - a local to Kingsley Commons in Falls Church-looked around and realized that many of his neighbors wouldn’t be able to enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal. He couldn't ignore it. So, with the help of his mom, sister, and a few friends they pooled their resources, bought a handful of turkeys, and began handing them out to families from the back of his pickup truck. No media. No spotlight. Just neighbors taking care of neighbors.
That moment sparked something much bigger than any of them could’ve imagined.
Each year since, the impact has grown-what began as a small gesture in one apartment complex has become a massive annual initiative embraced by hundreds. With support from local leaders, small businesses, nonprofit partners, and residents from all walks of life, the Turkey Drive has transformed into a full-fledged community effort.
What began in Kingsley Commons with one person and a small gesture - has become a symbol of what’s possible when community steps up for community.
